This last week was my final week without furniture!
First thing on Monday morning I went south to the town of Auggen to rent a "lift" (conveyor) to take things easily
through my third-floor window for the big move... My container arrived at 9 AM, one hour before I was told it was
scheduled to come... Thankfully I was across the street in the park with Klaus running through the tall grass and
Klaus doing what dogs doo when the truck driver drove up... My teammates from GEM & EuroTeam were scheduled
to arrive at 10 AM when I was told the container would arrive... I was given two hours to unload, and my teammates
did it in less than an hour after arriving around 10 AM... After two hours the truck driver would have started charging
me more money... Thank-you GEM locals!!
We also used the trailer I had rented with the lift to take my weight set over to the offices in Muellheim. In a few weeks
I hope to open Jim's GEM Gym (say that fast ten times) after I get things organized... Maybe it'll happen sooner...
There won't be a club fee or anything...
Also in the morning the phone company came and hooked up my phone! I can now communicate with the outside world
from my apartment!
In the afternoon the appliance repairman came and fixed my clothes dryer. The timing was again perfect as I had
been at the offices in Muellheim unloading the weights and having lunch and had just arrived back in Bad Krozingen!
He only spoke French or German and didn't look anything like my dad or brother Dan... I don't think they have
Maytags over here anyway...
My German classes are keeping me busy studying when I'm not digging through a sea of boxes... It is much better
than the echo I used to have in my apartment from it being so empty :^) Klaus is keeping me busy with at least three
daily walks being he doesn't have his own yard any more... Most afternoons I commute to the offices in Muellheim
after school and lunch in my Guacamole Van...
Klaus with my Green Machine...
Life is not boring or lonely in Germany ! The snow is long-gone and it's raining most days
like Oregon ...

Yesterday was the 60th anniversary of the passing of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Today I went to the Lutheran Church in
Bad Krozingen and heard a sermon on some excerpts from Dietrich's writings. It was very moving as the pastor did
a role play of Dietrich Bonhoeffer in Berlin prison (1944) as he wrote the question: "Wer bin ich?" (Who am I?).
As he struggled through the question he felt like a bird locked in a cage... longing to once again see color, flowers,
hear birds sing... But is he who people think he is, or just a hypocrite?... His conclusion... God knows who he is...
He belongs to God. Wer bin ich? It sure got me thinking... Who am I?...
A lady from the church sang a gospel song in English... "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen..." When Bonhoeffer
was in New York , USA he heard a gospel choir and loved their music...
I've completed my first week of German classes in Freiburg ... I've moved up to the next level, because the beginners
level was too slow with several students who seemed to have never spoken the language... Helping a dentist pull teeth
would have been more fun at times... :^) The current class is lots of fun with a lot of conversational practice. Lots of
verbs to learn, and how to use them properly...
I am still waiting for my container and living a very simple life in my apartment. It gets me outside a lot more with many
daily walks with Klaus. Once again an older couple asked me where I found my "bear" when I was walking Klaus today.
I also took many pictures of the beautiful flowers at the cemetery next door today.
